Do & don'ts after placing cubes on teeth

#1 Immediately after placing the cubes

It is important not to eat or drink anything in the first hour after placing the cubes. This ensures that the cubes stay firmly attached. Therefore, avoid hot drinks such as tea or soup for the first 24 hours, unless you let them cool down thoroughly first.

#2 Eating with cubes

What should you stop eating?

There are a number of foods that are better to avoid after the cubes have been placed, as they can loosen the thread or cubes. Then we mainly think of chocolate, candy, caramel or nuts.

What else can you eat?

Fortunately, you can still eat a lot of things safely. Examples include chips, fries, cookies, ice cream or chocolate on your sandwich.

What should you pay extra attention to?

You can no longer bite directly into hard foods such as apples or carrots. Cut these into small pieces before you eat them. This also applies to hard sandwiches or other chewy products. In addition, be careful with acidic drinks, such as soda or fruit juice. Limit drinking this to once a week and preferably use a straw to minimize contact between the acid and your teeth.

#3 Oral hygiene with cubes

Good oral hygiene is now more important than ever. When placing your cubes, we will give you clear instructions on how to clean. In addition, we provide a cleaning kit with all the necessary tools to keep your teeth clean and healthy, such as a brush and a tuft brush.

Despite the braces, it remains important to schedule (half) annual check-ups with your own dentist. This is how you ensure that your teeth stay healthy during orthodontic treatment.

#4 What to do in case of a loose block

Will a block come off, but it doesn't bother you? Then you don't have to make an extra appointment. We can simply lock the block again during your next inspection visit.

#5 What about post-treatment pain

It's normal to have some sensitive or sore teeth in the first few days. This is a sign that the cubes are doing their job. If the pain gets too bad, feel free to take a pain reliever.

By following the instructions above carefully, you can take good care of your cubes and get used to your new situation. Do you still have additional questions? Don't hesitate to contact us. We'd love to help you out!
