Orthodontic treatment
How does a typical treatment work?
Before you make an appointment, you would like to know what to expect. Discover our treatment process here:
Make an appointment
Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:00
Do you have a question? Then don't hesitate to contact us.
1. First appointment
Today we meet for the first time. We'll start by looking at and assessing your face and teeth. We'll discuss the diagnosis and talk about your needs. During the consultation, we will show you images of similar cases and their results.
After diagnosis, we discuss the costs. You will receive the quote to take home to take a look at it. Convinced? Then we look forward to seeing you again for another appointment.
2. Second appointment
At our second appointment, we will draw up your personal treatment plan. We start the appointment by taking an Intraoral Scan. Thanks to this scan, your teeth immediately appear on our screen in 3D. Based on your images, we will discuss the options and look for a treatment process that makes us both feel good.
With your personal treatment plan at hand, the next step is to place the device.
3. third appointment
The real work for you starts here. We will install your device during school hours (9 am & 2.30 pm). Thanks to new techniques, we place all cubes per tooth arch at once. This is much faster and is much more pleasant for you.
After installation, you will receive an explanation of how to best care for your device. You get the essentials to take home to keep your teeth and cubes in top condition.
5. End of treatment
Congratulations, your treatment is over. The time has come, we remove the cubes. To ensure that your result is maintained, we place a retention thread. Your teeth stay so firmly in place and you can enjoy your beautiful teeth for a lifetime.

An answer to your questions
Soda, including fruit juice, is sour and sweet and attacks the glaze. Without cubes, you can remove the roughness on your teeth with your tongue. But once you wear cubes, this is no longer possible. As a result, the acid between your cubes remains on your teeth. If you do not brush properly, you will damage your enamel and get white spots.
That's why it's best to follow these guidelines:
- Drink little soda: limit it to weekends and parties
- It's better to drink soda all at once than to take a lot of small sips over a long time.
- Never drink soda before bed
- It's better to drink soda through a straw
The answer is simple: as long as we want to keep our teeth straight. Sometimes it's harder to keep teeth straight than it is to straighten them. It is therefore essential to take care of your retention wires. Be careful when biting off hard things. This can cause the wires to come loose. We recommend that you have an annual check-up and will also call you for this.
On average, orthodontic treatment takes one and a half to two years. The length of treatment depends primarily on the patient's cooperation. The better you follow the treatment, the faster you will see results.
Too many wisdom teeth are being removed unnecessarily. There is no scientific evidence that wisdom teeth are responsible for moving teeth after a treatment. Only a wire or a nightstand, or sometimes both, can keep the teeth straight. Of course, this does not mean that we should never remove wisdom teeth. Local factors such as lack of space, abnormal location, damage to neighboring teeth or pain are all good reasons for removing them.
Please notify our practice as soon as possible. If you don't call the appointment 24 hours in advance or you don't keep the appointment, we can charge for it. So be sure to let us know if you won't get there.
Don't eat candy! The orthodontist has designed the braces to fit your teeth, so that the braces fit perfectly. The only thing that can cause it to come off is candy. There is nothing more annoying than a widening brace that comes off from one side: you can barely eat and the braces will cut into your cheek. Try to ignore the candy during your treatment to avoid unpleasant scenarios.
It is best to consult an orthodontist for the first time at the age of 8. At a young age, we can perform treatments that prepare the teeth for orthodontic treatment in the future - for example widening the upper jaw. The faster we take these interventions, the better the results. Please note that this treatment is outside the budget of the normal ortho treatment and there are strict conditions for eligibility for a refund: including starting treatment before 9 years.
The effective ortho treatment (with cubes) can only take place once all permanent teeth are present. This moment varies from patient to patient.
